President Mohammadu Buhari; A man of words and not of deeds.

A man of words and not of deeds is like a garden full of weeds. I could still remember clearly after six months , President Mohammadu Buhari's promises to Nigerians during his campaign for election, I could remember his promise on Chibok girls, I could still remember how he promised on his performance after 100days in office, I could still remember clearly the echo of change everywhere like Buhari is the messaih, the heaven sent. And after six months he has brought nothing but deceitful change to Nigeria. The promises he made are no where to be found
They said Goodluck Jonathan was competent but lacked experience. He was a Governor, before   becoming the president, that sounds like enough experience, because Bill Clinton was also a Governor becoming the president. So by experience they mean he must have been a Head of State in the past. Are you kidding me? Well, the man with an experience is here and he is currently showing us the negative side of change
After six months the only tremendous achievements of Mr president are lies, disobedience of court order, Economic instability, minimum security, and blaming of predecessor after six months.
Sen Bukola Saraki on the 19th of September 2015 disobeyed court order, a whole senate president of the Federation. He refused to declare His full asset as required by the constitution, and the court gave him order and he refused, I thought a leader is suppose to lead by example, and that doesn't sound like a good example to me
18 Dec 2015 marks a day of bad memory in the history of Nigeria, Naira Crashes To #280 Against Dollar. The worst exchange rate in the history of Nigeria, and as a result there has been inflation in the prices of virtually everything in the country. Mr president haven't taken any step in diversifying the country's economy as promised. Government can no longer pay salaries. The 36 state governors said they could no longer pay the N18,000 minimum wage that was signed into law in March 2011 by former President Goodluck Jonathan, owing to the poor state of the economy. Fortunately this was rejected was rejected by Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC). Even World Bank said that Nigerians are growing poorer for the first time since 1999. The economic sector is so close to collapse. And yet the President still has plan to borrow 2 trillion naira, and if he does this will be the highest amount of money the country has ever borrowed.
The issue of security in Nigeria is something no one is proud of. The killings in the northwestern by Boko Haram is still very much on, though Buhari claimed to have technically won the battle against Boko Haram, and yet on Christmas day Boko Haram killed 14, injured several, and burned down an entire village in northeastern part of the country. Boko Haram terrorists on the of Dec 27 2015 evening arrived at a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) filling station in the outskirts of Maiduguiri, Borno State on vehicles and opened fire on motorists queueing for fuel. All these happended just days after Mr President's statement. And before these attacks our so called Minister of information also supported Mr president, and he said "Though there are still cases of suicide bombings, it is necessary to note that such is the nature of insurgency globally", so sucide attacks and killing of innocent people is is a nature of insurgency globally. What a big shame on him. I love Gov. Fayose's reply to him, asking him to relocate to Yola or Borno if he is so sure about his statement.
President Buhari's appointments is in no way representing ethnic diversity, Comptroller general of customs, DSS Director general,  Chief of staff, INEC chairman, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), NSA chairman they're all from the Northern part of the country.
Mr President's fight on corruption is done selectively, if he really wants to fight corruption, he should start with his party leader. At least everyone knows him to be one of the most corrupt politicians in the country.
Fuel Scarcity is a topic on its own, as it has been that way for over a month now. No attempts on bad roads.
Hopefully Nigeria haven't gone beyond repair. Mr President should find a better solution to the country's situation and stop travelling all around in the name of cheap international recognition.

Frank Lampard And Christine Bleakley Are Married

Congratulations to Christine Bleakley and Frank Lampard, who both said 'I do' in London yesterday.
The pair, who have been engaged since the summer of 2011, wed at St Paul's in Knightsbridge and the bride looked amazing in her Suzanne Neville wedding dress, complete with a long lace veil.
Frank looked handsome as ever, and completely smitten with his new wife.
For the swish, glamorous reception the pair partied the night away at the Arts Club - a fave hotspot with the celebrity folk. The wedding singer was someone you might know - Mr Ed Sheeran - and the star guests included John Terry, Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Louise and Jamie Redknapp, Ant and Dec and Piers Morgan.
The pair met at the Pride of Britain Awards in 2009 after being introduced by Piers Morgan and England cricketer Kevin Pietersen.
Christine Bleakley looked absolutely stunning as she married Frank Lampard in front of family and friends - less than a week before Christmas. The bride wore a Suzanne Neville dress as the couple made their vows at St Paul's, and Ed Sheeran performed at the reception.

COCOA REVOLUTION ‘Ondo will soon be richer than Lagos!’

By Dayo Johnson, Akure
WITH the resuscitation of the 1,744 hectares of Oda Cocoa Farm Estate at Oda village, in Akure South area of Ondo State by the Mimiko administration after its neglect by successive administrations in the state since it’s  creation in 1976, the state is now on the verge of becoming one of the leading producers of cocoa in Africa.
Nigeria produces 240,000 metric tonnes of cocoa per annum out of which Ondo accounts for over 40 percent. So the revamping of the Oda Farm Estate is seen as a feat on the part of the state administration.
The plantation was established by the Premier of the defunct Western Region, the late Obafemi Awolowo, in 1954, and had since been abandoned before it was taken over by the Mimiko administration through its Cocoa Revolution Project, CRP.
Conducting journalists round the farm, the Chairman of the CRP, Dr Samuel Jibayo Oyebade, who is also a former Commissioner for Agriculture in the state, said that the objective of the project was to revamp the cocoa industry, make it a catalyst for employment generation and source of revenue for Ondo.
Oyebade added: “The governor approved the establishment of the CRP in June 2013 to mitigate the challenges of cocoa production and bring about increased production, good agricultural practices and sustainable standard beans processing amidst improving the economy of the state and making life worth living for peasant farmers.
“The initial plan of the CRP was to establish and rehabilitate 100ha each of old and new cocoa farms for farmers at one ha/ farmer, as a model for adoption. However, with the governors intervention, the CRP has since taken over the management and rehabilitation of the 1744ha Oda Farm Estate which has become the centre of CRP activities hitherto.
“ The Oda Cocoa Plantation is the source of Ondo State’s Premium Cocoa Beans used in the production of the award-winning Oda 70 percent SPAGnVOLA Chocolate”.
Oyebade said the CRP had achieved the following: Establishment of over 60ha new cocoa farm as pilot at Oda, establishment of 12ha new far at Agangan camp, rehabilitation of 80ha Cocoa at Oda, revamping of 300ha also at Oda Cocoa Farm Estate, rehabilitation of voluntee farms at Obada 10ha, Igbado 2ha, Aganhan camp 4ha and 4ha at Owena Elesin.
Others, according to him, include production of 1.5million hybrid cocoa seedlings, fabricating a tractor high powered water pump for provision of water for irrigation and application of cocoa chemical yearly, production of ideal cocoa fermentation boxes and sun drying mechanisms for the production of premium (high quality) cocoa beans for chocolate production and the production of 62.7 metric tonnes of farmers cooca beans last year.
Oyebade added that the CRP produced 4.7 metric tones of premium cocoa beans last year, partnered the Federal Ministry of Agricultures and Rural Development, IITA, IFAD, USAID, French Association for the International Development of Exchange of Food and Agricultural Produce and Techniques, ADEPTA, and Isreali Fertilizer Production Groups, among others.
Part of the feat achieved include the silver award for Ondo State by the London Academy on Chocolate with the Oda 70 percent single Estate Chocolate in April this year. He said: “We have demonstrated that in Oda Farm, our cocoa revolution project is a high capacity tractor-water-pump-driven which collects water from the river and small streams that will be close to the farmers’ farms. Irrigation will change the face of agriculture.
“In a matter of few years, Ondo State shall be richer than Lagos State. The cocoa revolution will enhance the revenue profile of the state and the monthly allocation from the Federation Account will be mere peanut. While planting our 100 hectares of cocoa, we planted about 200,000 stands of plantain as a shield; that also will generate funds later”.
Oyebade explained that if the country wants a breakthrough in revenue through agriculture, the Federal Government should follow the Ondo State template and make cocoa production a source of employment generation for the country’s teeming population. He noted that with two year into the project, it has recorded tremendous achievements which include sensitizing the youths to embrace cocoa farming and production.

Spanish Prime Minister punched in the face by teen at campaign event

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy was dealt an eye-watering sucker punch by a teenager during a campaign event Wednesday.
The young man got up close to the Prime Minister, reportedly asking to take a photograph, before unleashing his left fist into the side of Rajoy's head.
The punch knocked Rajoy's glasses off of his face, leaving the leader of the People's Party bruised but otherwise "feeling good," he later said in a tweet.
The 17-year-old attacker was later shown being taken away in handcuffs by security guards.
Rajoy had been speaking to a large crowd in the northwestern city of Pontevedra, ahead of the country's general election on Sunday.

SSANU Threatens To Embark On Indefinite Strike Action

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has threatened to declare an indefinite strike over a directive by the Federal Government for universities to retrench workers of University Staff Schools.
The National President of the association, Mr Samson Ugwoke made the plan known at a news conference in Abuja on Friday.
He said that failure by the government to honour the agreement between it and SSANU on the schools would compel the association to declare an indefinite strike
“SSANU wishes to notify the Federal Government of our intention to resume our national industrial action on rejection of the directive to Vice-Chancellors of Federal Universities, by the National Salaries, income and wages Commission to retrench over 2,000 workers.
“This set of people has been employed by the universities councils for upward of decades and productively contributing their quotas to the development of the Nigerian education system”, he said.
He said that the directive to retrench the workers emanated from a circular written on behalf of the minister of Education.
According to him, the implication of this directive is that this category of workers from over 30 universities will be thrown into the unemployment market.
Ugwoke said that University Staff Schools were an integral part of the university system, established as welfare and municipal services for scholars and staff.
He said the children of university workers should have access to subsidised elementary education and that education should be considered a matter of right and not favour.
Ugwoke said that the implementation of such directive would be a gross violation and breach of the 2009 agreement between the association and government.
According to him, the agreement is that the university shall bear full capital and recurrent cost of University Staff Primary schools.
“Having engaged the government in prolonged negotiations which culminated in the signing of the 2009 agreement, we hereby declare that we will defend the sanctity of every part of that agreement”, he said.
The association president said that if the motive was to curb wastage in governance, then government should beam its searchlight on other areas of the sector.
Ugwoke said although it was the desire of the association that industrial peace be maintained in the universities, such situation should not be at the cost of its

Petrol May Sell For less Than N 87/Litre By First Quarter Of 2016

The pump price of petrol may sell for less than the current official price of N87 per litre before the end of the first quarter of 2016, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has revealed.
The announcement is coming on the heels of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company, KRPC, resuming production of petroleum products beginning from today (Saturday).
According to the NNPC, the current pricing template for petrol, which was prepared by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, contains glaring inefficiencies that deserve to be looked into.
The Group General Manager, Corporate Planning and Strategy of the NNPC, Mr. Bello Rabiu, who made this known at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, argued that going by the fall in the price of crude oil, it was important to consult relevant stakeholders in order to produce an adjusted template.
This consultation with stakeholders, he explained, was necessary to negotiate and reduce some of the costs associated with the importation of petroleum products.
Mr. Rabiu added that government had the target of reducing the amount charged for logistics and distribution margin on every litre of premium motor spirit consumed in Nigeria.
He was optimistic that the adjusted template would surely have a considerable reduction in the pump price of petrol when it is completed before the end of the first quarter of next year.
Rabiu said, “We are engaging industry stakeholders to review the PPPRA template that actually drives the cost of importation. This is because the actual cost of PMS minus the retail price of the product is subsidy. So if the cost falls to N80 per litre today, then where will the need be for subsidy? If the cost is less than the current retail price of N87 then it means there is no subsidy.
“So we are looking at the template to have it reviewed considering the realities on the ground now in the sector. What if after the review we are able to take away about N10 from this current template, which today puts the cost of petrol at N91.52 litre, then it means the cost may come down to around N82 per litre.
“That is why we said there is no need for subsidy in the 2016 budget. We say this because we know that the price of crude oil will not go so high in the next 12 months because of the high level of saturation in the market. So as soon as it is appropriate, we will announce a new price for PMS”.
The GGM stressed that the adjusted template would be used subsequently to modulate prices down or up on a periodic basis if required, adding that if oil prices continue to fall and inefficiencies are eliminated within the template, there will surely be negative subsidy.
The negative subsidy, he said, shall be remitted to the Petroleum Support Fund in line with the current PPPRA guidelines.
“The savings under such a regime could be domiciled in the PSF as a buffer for future subsidy (if any) that may arise during high oil price regime or invested by the industry in supply and distribution efficiency improvement projects such as decongestion of Apapa area, Single Point Monitoring in Port Harcourt and Warri, complimentary rail services, inland waterways, etc”, Bello said.
On the commencement of production at the KRPC, the Managing Director, Pipelines Product Marketing Company, PPMC, Mrs. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, said crude oil had been pumped to the facility from Warri.
Mrs. Nnamdi-Ogbue further stated that some pipelines had started pumping crude oil and refined products, adding that petrol had been pumped from Atlas Cove to Mosimi depot using the pipelines connecting both facilities pipelines.
The PPMC boss also said that between now and the end of the month, there are 12 vessels of products coming in with at least 30,000 metric tonnes each, stressing that there will be a ‘queueless’ Yuletide, and urged motorists and petrol seekers to avoid panic buying.

Tinubu Calls For Urgent Removal Of Fuel Subsidy

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ex-governor of Lagos state and chieftain of the leading All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged the Buhari-led government to eradicate the fuel subsidy exercise.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu calls for the removal of subsidy.
According to Tinubu, the fuel subsidy exercise came with “many demons”. He said: “In a perfect world, I wish we could sanitize the subsidy regime and thus continue with it.
“However, I have reached the conclusion that there are too many demons in the system for that hell to be turned into heaven
“It is better that we remove it, not for the austere purpose of saving money but to use the money more wisely that we might better save the people. Let us begin a process of a thoughtful, but decisive subsidy phase-out.
“While this is occurring, we should simultaneously phase in social programs benefiting the poorest, most vulnerable among us.
“Programs such as transportation subsidies, school feeding, improved basic medical care and coverage for the poor, and potable water projects are some of the things that can be done with the same funds.
“This way we can undertake this massive expenditure confident that the fruits will go to the hungry, not the already too well fed.
“End the fuel subsidy. Subsidize the people instead – Subsidize the people instead!,” Tinubu stressed.
The APC national leader made the demand while speaking in Kaduna on Friday, December 18, at the 10th memorial anniversary of late Dr Bala Usman, a politician, and former lecturer with Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
There have been speculation regarding the likely stoppage of subsidy payments by the Muhammadu Buhari administration, the rumours are based on the fact that subsidy does not reflect in the government’s budget for next year.
This Day reports that the federal government on Monday, December 14, said it would begin a gradual withdrawal of fuel subsidy next year. Experts say if the subsidy is removed eventually, queues will disappear from the fuel stations.
Analysis by Business Day shows that, if the move to remove subsidy scales through, then petrol will retail at about N97 per litre, going by the current landing price of between N77 – N79 per litre , in addition to transport to pumphead, marketers and other margins for about N18.

President Buhari ;the issue of petroleum in Nigeria

Being the president of our prestigious country is already enough burden for a man to carry, already enough food on one man's plate,  let alone being the Minister for the highest source of income in the country alongside.
From the southern part of the country the issue of the Biafra movement is still on, the northern part on the other hand is faced with the menace of Bokoharam, the country in general is faced with armed robbery and kidnapping. On 21st September 2015 Olu Falae ( Former
secretary to the Government of the
Federation (SGF)
January 1986 – January 1990 and a one time minster of finance) was
kidnapped on his farm on his 77th birthday,
with the kidnappers demanding 100 million
Naira ($500,000) ransom for his release. Falae
was released on 24th September 2015 after
paying ransom and returned to his home in
Akure. This is an issue of security the president have to deal with.
The economy sector of the country is nothing to write about. Just on the 5th November 2015 NNPC reported a loss of 120 Billion in 2
months. This is due to the decrease in International oil price, and the devalue in Nigeria's currency.
On November 25 Mr president said it himself that Nigerian roads are dead, meaning he has really got a lot of work to do in the transport sector, dealing with the liquid black gold is not just it.
I'm not against the government or anything, President Buhari is good, even though I haven't seen His impact after over 120 days in office, and handling the petroleum sector is just making it worst.
For me, I don't think it's possible for a president going for summits here and there in different countries to be in personal negotiation with oil marketers at the same time.
If Nigeria as a country is ever going to have a petroleum industry that will make sense,  I would advise President Buhari to resign from being the petroleum minster. Because every aspect of Nigeria needs urgent attention.

I didn’t say petrol will sell for N97/litre - Minster for state petroleum resources

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Ibe Kachikwu has refuted media reports quoting him as saying that the gradual phasing out of the Subsidy scheme in 2016 will give rise to the increase in petroleum product to N97. Ibe was quoted to have said this during a meeting with the Senate this week. However at a media briefing in Abuja yesterday, Ibe said the federal government has no plans to raise the price of petrol from N87 to N97 per litre in 2016.
“I did not say that refined product will sell for N97 next year that is not what I said. I said that between the band of N87 and N97 we are going to look at prices. Today the prices are largely close to N87 so there might be no need to change prices. By January oil may well go up slightly, by February it may go slightly, by April it may come down. It is all a dynamics of what the price of crude is. I have not put a certain figure. Myself and PPPRA we will sit down and do those calculations and be able to announce what price PMS will sell for in January. We do not anticipate any shift in the price of crude today.”he said

Father of 2 slumps and dies while queuing for fuel in Abuja

A commercial motorcyclist simply identified as Ishaya slumped and died while on a queue at the NNPC petrol station in Kubwa, Abuja yesterday December 17th. Eyewitnesses say the father of two had been standing for hours and it was almost about to get to his turn to buy fuel when he slumped. It is believed he slumped due to exhaustion. He was rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital where he was confirmed dead.

We missed the opportunity to diversify; Now Nigeria has collied into a wall - Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, says Nigeria’s economy has hit a wall because the country did not plan for times like this.
“For decades, Nigeria danced in close confines with economic disaster. In the past, higher oil prices allowed us to dodge the worst. We have survived but not thrived. Improvised but not planned. Spent but not invested. Laughed, drank and feasted but did not build, construct or maintain. Now, Nigeria has collided into a wall, merciless and immovable. The present downturn in oil prices may be more than just a transient slump in the business cycle,” Per Second News quoted Tinubu to have said in a statement by his media office on Thursday.
The APC chieftain said that it was unfortunate that Nigeria wasted the opportunity it had to diversify its economy when oil prices were at an all-time high, noting that Nigeria is now bearing the brunt of its past mistakes, with the naira slumping to its lowest level in Nigerian history on the parallel market at N280 against the dollar on Thursday.

Happy birthday ZAHRA BUHARI

Happy birthday ZAHRA BUHARI
The president's daughter is a year older today. Just a day after her dad's birthday.. *so sweet*

Read on the lady on the N20 note, Ladi Kwali, an extremely talented potter with a Doctorate who was made an MBE in 1963.

Ladi Kwali (c.1925-1984) was a
Nigerian potter.
She was born in the village of Kwali in the Gwari region of Northern Nigeria, where pottery was a common occupation among women. She learned to make pottery as a child using the traditional method of coiling. She made large pots for use as water jars and cooking pots from coils of clay, beaten from the inside with a flat wooden paddle. They were decorated with incised geometric and stylised figurative patterns. Following the traditional African method, they were fired in a bonfire of dry vegetation
Her pots were noted for their beauty of form and decoration. Several were acquired by the Emir of Abuja , in whose home they were seen by
Michael Cardew in 1950. In 1954, she joined Cardew's pottery training centre in Abuja, its only woman potter, where she learned to throw pots on the wheel. She made dishes, bowls and beakers with sgraffito decoration but also continued to produce pots using her traditional hand building and decorating techniques. Most of these were glazed and fired in a high-temperature kiln and therefore represent an interesting hybrid of traditional African with western studio pottery
Through Kwali's contact with Cardew, she and her work became known in Europe, Britain and America. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, her work was shown to great acclaim in London at the Berkeley Galleries. She became Nigeria's best-known potter, was awarded a doctorate and was made
MBE in 1963. The Abuja Pottery was renamed the Ladi Kwali Pottery and a major street in Abuja is called Ladi Kwali Road.

Naira falls to 280 to a dollar

The Naira weakened on Thursday to 280 to a dollar following a directive by the central bank that commercial banks should limit how much customers can spend abroad using their debits cards.
The CBN has for months defended the naira employing varying measures to stabilize the falling currency, including shoring it up with forex reserves. But with reserves dwindling, the bank is not left with a better choice than curbing dollar demand. This, in turn, is hurting the naira.
“The central bank is not providing us with dollars to settle those trades and local banks are limited in their ability to source dollars, so we don’t want to end up with a settlement risk,” Reuters quoted a senior banker to have said.
In adherence to the central bank’s directive, commercial banks in Nigeria announced new limits. Individuals can now spend $100 to $150 abroad daily or $12,000 annually, down from the $50,000 set by the central bank in April. Before the April move, the limit was $150,000.
Analysts expect the naira’s struggle to continue as U.S. Federal Reserves interest rates increase is expected to exert more pressure as the economy witnesses capital flight and dollar cost of borrowing increases for emerging markets. From all indications, oil prices may not happen soon; this is also not good for the naira. The commodity accounts for more than 80 percent of government revenue and over 90 percent of foreign exchange earnings.
